March 2025 Ways to Disrupt Whiteness

There’s so much dangerous cruel anti-democratic government actions currently at the local, school district, state, and federal level. And there are communities – immigrants, trans folks, federal employees, people who have food or housing insecurity – who need direct support.

Food Not Bombs serves non-meat meals every Mon Wed Fri and Sun 7:30 in downtown Houston (and around the world). I’m told it’s easy to park and drop off the food you bring, or you can stay and serve. I forgot the address; if you know it please let me know.

Hand out Know Your Rights information to everyone you see who speaks with an accent. Immigrants are scared. This is a good way to show you care and give them some helpful information. Print them out and have them on your person in languages commonly used in your area https://www.aclu.org/know-your-rights/immigrants-rights

Follow 50501 and other organizers for protests. Know your rights as a protester https://www.aclu.org/know-your-rights/protesters-rights

Trans people need our advocacy in the Texas legislature. Sign up here for updates from Equality Texas on how you can fight back.

Thank federal employees in your life, such as your mail carrier. Maybe a gift card to a local coffee shop that doesn’t violate the spirit of the economic boycott.

Join an action alert team to resist or advocate legislatively. Some options are: Texas Impact. Nationally, 5 calls. Nationally: SURJ current actions. SURJ sign up. ACLU signup. Texas League of Women Voters text “Action” to 80123, Equality Texas
